What's in Your Future? Video

The Center for Family Involvement at the Partnership helped a group of students and school personnel at Patrick Henry High School in Hanover Co to develop this video to share with other students, parents and community members. The video addresses what Content Literacy is, how it works in their school, and how it benefits students. The Content Literacy Continuum (CLC) is a research-based instructional continuum developed at Kansas University. CLC employs five levels of instruction and specific learning strategies and routines to help all students organize information and learn. Virginia uses its federally funded State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) to assist middle and high schools in selected school divisions around the state in training and supporting staff to implement CLC school-wide. The intention is to support at least one middle school and its feeder high school in each Superintendents Region in becoming a CLC demonstration site and to spread these practices to other schools in the state. CLC offers promising practices for assisting all students, including students with disabilities. The students in the video represent a wide range of academic achievement; all of the students have individual learning styles and needs, many have IEPs.
