Diversity Fellows Program
Overview
The Diversity Fellows Program supports at least one graduate level student each spring semester to be immersed in diversity issues related to disability and who will become a part of a national cohort for knowledge exchange.
Major Activities
As a result of a diversity fellows program, staffing at the Partnership reflects the greater diversity of our communities and diverse perspectives inform and enhance our work.
The goal of the first year of the fellows program is to increase focus, attention, and awareness on existing and emerging concerns and practices in disability and cultural and linguistic diversity by conducting research into the Partnership’s Center for Family Involvement’s Cultural Broke initiative.
The objectives are:
- To establish a Diversity Fellowship Program, including a recruitment process and sustainability plan
- To increase fellows’ knowledge and skills related to disability and diversity through
- Participation in an action learning (capstone) project in a community program,
- Training experiences to increase disability and diversity knowledge, and
- Mentoring by Partnership leaders for knowledge exchange
- To increase the knowledge of others by sharing learning gained through the fellowship with Partnership staff members, project partners, and the UCEDD cohort of fellows.
